MediaTek Dimensity 1300 launched, is expected to debut in the OnePlus Nord 2T

The MediaTek Dimensity 1300 was launched without a peek from the company, and that’s a 5G-ready chipset tipped to power the mid-cycle refresh OnePlus Nord 2T. It is manufactured in TSMC’s 6nm process and contains eight cores. Four of these cores are Cortex-A78 cores, with one “Ultra” core clocked at 3 GHz and three “Super” cores clocked at 2.6 GHz. The other four cores are Cortex-A55 efficiency cores clocked at up to 2 GHz. The graphics processor is a 9-core Arm Mali-G77 MC9.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1300 appears to be essentially identical to the MediaTek Dimensity 1200, and we reached out to MediaTek to confirm the differences. For now, however, we can say that it should at least offer the same performance as the already excellent MediaTek Dimensity 1200.

The Dimensity 1300 features a “premium” Cortex-A78 core clocked up to 3GHz, while the other three performance cores are Cortex-A78 cores clocked up to 2.6GHz. The other four cores of this SoC consist of a Cortex-A55 clocked at up to 2.0 GHz. On the GPU side, it’s equipped with a nine-core ARM Mali-G77 GPU that supports MediaTek’s HyperEngine 5.0 gaming technology, an upgrade over the Dimensity 1200. According to MediaTek, HyperBoost 5.0 offers AI-VRS graphics enhancement , Support for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Hybrid 2.0 and Bluetooth LE Audio technology.

Not only that, HyperBoost 5.0 also includes the improvements from 3.0 that debuted in the Dimensity 1200. This includes support for 5G calls and simultaneous data use, as well as a Multi-Touch Boost for improved touchscreen responsiveness. The full combination also enables ray tracing support in games and AR apps, and also supports super hotspot power savings. Apart from the upgrade to HyperBoost 5.0, we didn’t see any other major changes.

We’ve reached out to MediaTek to confirm if there are any other changes to the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 aside from the HyperBoost 5.0 upgrade, and will update this article if we get feedback.
